Hala Alsalman / Director / Writer
Hala is an award-winning writer/director of fiction, branded content and music videos with a penchant for dark comedy. As a commercial non-fiction director her previous clients include Ray-Ban, Spike TV and Condé Nast. As an independent filmmaker she has received multiple grants from the Canada Council for the Arts for her projects and in 2012, she wrote and directed the Gemini-nominated fiction web series "Bêtes Humaines" which was funded by TV5 Québec.
In 2015 she co-wrote the feature film "Haifa Street" - a dark thriller about an Iraqi sniper - with director Mohanad Hayal. The film has been nurtured by the Tribeca, Sundance and Doha Film Institutes and is now in the post-production phase. She is currently in pre-production for a comedy pilot about an Arab-American female artist who's working on a nude photo series ofçç Arab men titled "Maybe This Was A Bad Idea"
