Ridwan Adhami - Photographer / Video Director
Photographer / Video Artist
Born in Queens, NY to Syrian immigrant parents, Ridwan Adhami grew up being heavily influenced by the city’s diverse and urban culture. Like many children of immigrants who try to build bridges between the old and new world, he was highly creative and passionate about telling stories. After getting his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Computer Graphics from the New York Institute of Technology, Adhami worked in the music and film industry as a director, editor, photographer and cinematographer while founding his visual media company RidzDesign.
Adhami’s artistic flair, which combines all-American appeal with raw, gripping, urban imagery, has catapulted him to work with internationally renowned artists and brands. His photo-films include Hamdulillah for the Iraqi-Canadian artist Narcicyst and multiple projects with European pop group Outlandish, as well as photo work with international star Sami Yusuf have garnered awards and millions of views.
Today Ridwan Adhami is inspired to be the voice of the voiceless. Using his lens, he wants to put a face on the pain and suffering that plague so many. As Creative Director at Islamic Relief USA, Ridwan continues to work with all aspects of multimedia to humanize the struggle and to dispel to the world a message of peace, acceptance, and understanding. He has relocated from New York City to the Washington DC area, with his wife and young daughter.
