Commissioned by the Polaris Prize 2020 and CBC Music, THE MONK is an ode to Black Life in 2020. Written by members of the cast in collaboration with Narcy, and directed by Yassin Alsalman, THE MONK follows a day in the life of Musa - a creative spirit confined by the pressures of society in the near future. Faced with his own mortality, we revisit time in a world where police are abolished, and the power is returned to the community.
